Tactile metrology is the point-based acquisition of the surface of an object by probing. Coordinate measuring machines (CMMS) are the most popular systems within tactile metrology and they can work with a range of tactile or scanning measuring systems. This area also includes height gauges, contour, and roughness inspection.
